Mar 2, 2008
Dear Elder Sean,
How are you doing? Dad and the little girls are talking with g & g Thompson on the phone right now, so I thought I'd sit down and compose my letter to you. We are all well here, enjoying a bit of spring weather, getting outside more and getting that spring cleaning fever. I went through all the little girls' clothes over the weekend and we made quite a donation to DI. Feels good to clean out.

Let's see, here's the week's news. EHS played in the State tournament and took 4th. They felt they were robbed a little with their coach making some unusual calls during the game like starting their 3rd string at the beginning of the game. A bit unusual. Vallivue took 1st place.

Tyler Yorgason got his mission call to the Phoenix Arizona mission leaving at the end of May. He came home for the weekend to open his call with his family and also to go to Dallas's games and also to go to Chad's baptism. They had quite the week.

The Clegg's should be coming home from their mission this week. They've had a wonderful time at Nauvoo. I would love to go there some day with the family.

I had my quilt group this week and we're having record turnouts. I think it's probably because it's winter and it's the season for quilting. Our numbers fall in the summer. I really enjoy getting together with all these ladies. Our group is very diverse. I started a blog page for our group this week too. I think it will be a fun way for all of us Material Girls to record what we do each month, what we make, etc. We've found some great charities to give to. We're making a quilt for the Komen Breast Cancer auction in May. This will be our second year. They asked us to make another quilt this year because our one last year made quite a bit of money for them. We also makes quilts for the domestic courts in CA. Aunt Jan's neighbor is a court reporter in the domestic court and said they are always taking children from their parents and it would be so nice to have a little something to give them. The children range in age from infant to 18, so it's fun making all kinds of quilts for them. I just ship them down to Jan.

If anyone in your area has any need for fabric or quilts, please let me know. I would love to contribute and help in any way. I could send some big boxes of fabric or quilts any time.

Alex made JV tennis and is pretty excited about it. He was hoping to make varsity, but with JV he's guaranteed to play singles which he's looking forward to. Kirk sounds like he's doing well at school. He still hasn't taken his Spanish test to pass off for some credits. I hope he doesn't forget everything by the time he takes it. Kristina is keeping busy with piano, drums, ballet and being in the play High School Musical. She's going to switch schools next year and go to EMS. She says she wants to be with her friends from the ward-Samantha Yorgason and Claire Cameron. They're both great girls, so I think it will be fun for her to be there. Leah is doing well. Dad and I took her to get some testing done this week and it's a place that works on brain function, attention span, memory, etc. They have her do all kinds of physical exercises that help her left and right side of the brain cross over. It was very interesting and I'm hopeful about it. It's a 24-week course. I just want to give Leah every benefit at being successful in school and in life. Leah's very willing and so sweet which will be to her benefit in life. Nikki is still good ole Nikki. She's almost as tall as Leah, bigger and stronger than Leah though. She wants to learn how to be a chef, so I found a kid's chef school here in Meridian and I told her she could take some classes this summer. I figure, we know she loves food, so maybe this is her calling.

Dad is still keeping pretty busy with work and church. He got to get out in the yard last week and that's where he really wants to be the most.

I read an article by a man who used to be a mission president-Jim Engebretsen. He said so many times he heard his missionaries report that they had contacted people who seemed genuinely interested and when they would come back to talk with them, they would tell the missionaries that they had researched the church on the internet and had now decided not to have any more contact with them. Bro. Engebretsen said that there was much more anti-Mormon stuff on the internet than good information so he decided to try to do something about it. He started what is called the More Good Foundation. It has information about the church and several links to other good websites, blogs, chatrooms, forums, etc. He felt more people should find ways to share their testimonies on the internet and helps people do that. There are several quotes from some of the apostles asking people to do just that. Especially Elder Ballard who asks us to make it clear and simple and just tell the story of the restoration when we can. I was so impressed with the article, that that's when I started my blog page and I've included a link on it to the new church website Jesuschrist.lds.org.

I hope you are doing well and feeling the spirit around you daily as you work. I read the article about the woman you met in the Dec Ensign. It was a good reminder of putting our heartfelt testimonies in every book we give away. Did Daniel Moreno's family come to church?

Here are some missionary tips for the week:
1. Surprise your comp by rearranging the furniture in the apartment while he is in the shower.
2. Don't be afriad to get your suit dirty.
3. Store some water in 2-liter bottles in your apt for emergencies.
4. Don't eat food that's been in the fridge longer than you've been in the area.
5. Create 2 or 3 inside jokes per companionship
6. Make treats for district meetings.

We sent off another box this week. So you should be getting 2 boxes in the near future. I've been telling Kirk about the boxes we're sending you and I think he's missing getting those, so we're going to send him a care package this week too. Always know that you're in my heart and because you're in my heart, you're always on my mind. We love praying as a family for you and I know you are where our Father in Heaven wants you to be right now. What powerful knowledge that is.

Have a great week.
Love you,
