Dear Elder Sean,
So here we are at 8 weeks. Wow. I don't know if time went by fast for you, but it flew by here. Being able to write you often and hear from you often really helped. I loved getting the emails every Friday and also getting handwritten letters each Monday. You've had wonderful experiences there in the MTC, your lamp should be full and overflowing with oil.
Mitch Horton just got his call. In case you haven't heard he's going to the Resistencia Argentina mission in Sept. You guys are just going to sweep South America for the next two years. I guess Brandon should be in Brazil by now. I'll have to call his parents and see how they're doing.
I spoke with Tim and Terri Westerberg the other night. We're going to Wallowa Lake in Oregon which is where they just went for their family vacation. I wanted to get some tips from them about the area. It sounds like a fun and relaxing place to go and very beautiful. Terri had a lot of questions for me about mission prep-the physical part of it. They're getting pretty excited for Jared and don't really know some of the little tips that help a lot so hopefully I enlightened them a little.
Let's see. My week has been a bit uneventful as far as news. Busy every day though. Jill tells me Oliver is moving into an apartment in Provo with Jeff Rozsa this Friday. Both moms are hoping it will be a good thing. Jeff is trying to do better. It's been a hard year for the Rozsa's.
This morning I spent some time with Andrea shopping and helping her pick out fabric for the borders on her quilt. She's just about finished and it's going to look good. I think she might be hooked on this new sport. We went shopping while Leah was at Sylvan and then afterward, Andrea bought us some treats at the Carls JR that is right there by Sylvan. She said her dad is really excited that the Winco is almost finished by their store on State Hwy. That should bring in a lot more business.
The girls are over at the Poulsens because they've rented one of those big inflatable water slides for a week. Too fun.
Alex is at YM and they are on a bike ride. They have to get in shape for their high adventure camp.
I'm trying to get things ready for our little 4-day trip tomorrow. We've rented a cabin that is right on the lake and it should be much cooler there. As you know, it's been so hot here lately. Sounds like you'll be enjoying some pleasant weather down in Cordoba.
I sent you Kirk's email and now I realize that you probably don't know what he's talking about concerning g & g Trumbo. I talked with my dad on Father's Day and he said they got called into the Stake President's office and were asked to serve a 2-year mission in their area where they will be working with the missionaries in their area, helping them keep their apartments clean and organized and generally just helping them with whatever they might need. Grandpa says he loves working with young adults so this should be a great calling and one that grandma can just go along with him and help out. She'll be a great one for teaching them how to clean their apartments, etc. So we have some more missionaries out in the field in our family.
So how many sisters and elders fly out with you? I'm sure you must be excited to go but also will be leaving a wonderful place with fond memories. (maybe not fond memories about the food) Heather Pinder always asks about you. They're in Weiser this weekend for the fiddle fest. They want us to stop by on our way to the lake.
We are excited to talk with you on Monday. The best time for us being home will be while you are in Atlanta sometime, probably between 1:30pm and 3pm our time. Just call us collect and we'll call you right back at your number. But we'll try to be around most the day in case. We'll have our usual errands, piano lessons, Sylvan classes to run to, but we're never gone too long.
I hope you know how much I love you. You are in the right place at the right time and you are now an instrument in the Lord's hands. Let your actions bear testimony of the truths of the gospel and the love of the Lord for all His people. We are so blessed to have the fullness of the gospel and to live in this day and age. I love living the gospel, it brings me such joy. Enjoy the wondrous work that is about to take place and know that I am always with you.
Till Monday...
Love you,
mom
